Attic Insulation Benefits

Attic insulation slows heat movement between the living space and the attic. In the Charlotte region, this can reduce the amount of heating or cooling the HVAC system must provide. According to ENERGY STAR, sealing and insulating attics can help reduce energy use in homes. The Department of Energy also notes that insulation improvements can reduce heating and cooling loads under certain conditions. Actual results vary with existing insulation levels, air leakage, house size, and local weather patterns.

Air Sealing & Energy Efficiency

Insulation and air sealing address different parts of the building envelope. Insulation reduces conductive heat transfer through materials. Air sealing limits air movement through gaps around wiring, plumbing, top plates, and attic access points. Standard performs air sealing as part of every attic insulation job. The combination helps the insulation perform closer to its rated value. Learn more about our attic insulation approach and how it pairs with air sealing.
